Today the Wanchain Foundation announced their newest update, featuring interoperability with the Ethereum network. Until now, all blockchains, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, have existed in isolation.

To date, one of the highest priorities of the entire blockchain industry has been to create a protocol that allows cross-chain transactions and Wanchain is the now the first to offer this capability.

According to a release from Wanchain on July 23, the Wanchain 2.0 platform is now fully connected to the Ethereum blockchain and is “the world’s first and only interoperable blockchain with secure multi-party computing.”

Users of the 2.0 platform now have the ability to deploy both WAN and ETH contracts on the Wanchain blockchain, deploy ICO contracts that support participation from both networks, and also to deploy debit or credit contracts.

Wanchain’s new cross-chain technology offers many uses to the financial industry, supply chain and logistics, and even in the healthcare industry with regards to patient data.

Wanchain will support BTC cross-chain functionality before the end of 2018 and has future plans to integrate the cross-chain functionality with many other public blockchains moving forward.
