Experts on market manipulation have flagged Tether, a very popular cryptocurrency also known as USDT, for defying the normal rules of economics. On a traditional securities exchange this behaviour would stick out like a sore thumb, but perhaps people have not been watching so closely on Kraken, where large Tether orders fail to moves prices much in either direction. Federal Reserve bank examiner Mark Williams reviewed over 56,000 trades from the public Kraken order book over the last few months and agreed that something strange is going on.
