MyEtherWallet, the popular interface for generating Ethereum wallets, has launched a free companion app for mobile devices. The app is currently available on the App Store for iOS devices and will be coming soon to the Google Play store.

The new mobile app, MEWConnect, offers users the ability to create wallets and interact with the Ethereum network while on the go, while still remaining in full control of their private keys and funds.

We have been working hard to perfect MEWconnect over the past few months, and are excited to finally provide our global users with this free and easy to use app that has the functionality of a hardware wallet. We believe this app will play a key role in wider cryptocurrency adoption, and we look forward to being a part of this transition.

Kosala Hemachandra, Founder and CEO of MyEtherWallet

MEWconnect uses state of the art security features in order to protect accounts and features two-step verification to protect your every transaction.

Private keys for wallets are stored in a local, isolated, and secure vault on the mobile device, and there are no databases or centralized servers for communication whatsoever. Additionally, MEWconnect and MyEtherWallet talk via P2P communication, which means no one will be able to obtain your private key through a phishing attempt.

The new software is free, completely open source, and is independently audited by the community. You can check out the source code, or download the app here.
