Starting in August 2018, the London School of Economics (LSE) will begin offering an online course to educate cryptocurrency investors.

The course, entitled “Cryptocurrency Investment and Disruption,” is one of the first of its kind, and features six modules to be released on a weekly basis.

The overall goal of the program is to help business-minded people navigate the volatile crypto environment because, “it can be difficult for potential investors and businesses to make sense of, and accurately evaluate, cryptocurrencies and their uses.”

During this course, you will be provided with the information, knowledge and frameworks to deepen your understanding of blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies – how they operate and the implications for business and the economy. You will not be given cryptocurrency investing advice, or investment or financial advice of any nature.

Here’s a look at each of the modules:

  • Module 1: What are cryptocurrencies and the blockchain?
  • Module 2: The cryptocurrency infrastructure and ecosystem
  • Module 3: Money, value, markets and institutions
  • Module 4: Cryptocurrency market analysis, trading and investment
  • Module 5: Cryptocurrency regulation and risks
  • Module 6: Cryptocurrencies in a global innovation context

There are no prerequisites required to participate in the course and it has even been certified by the CPD Certification Service of the United Kingdom.

After completing the course, students should be able to invest in crypto by applying theory along with knowledge of tech and regulations, learn to analalyze and valuate cryptos, and more generally understand the intersection of and relationship between crypto markets and models and their traditional financial counterparts.

The course costs £ 1,800 (~ $2,400 USD) and will be taught by Dr Carsten Sørensen, Associate Professor of Information Systems and Innovation.

Be sure to make note of these important dates if you’re considering enrolling:

  • Registrations close: 22 August 2018
  • Course starts: 14 August 2018
  • Duration: 6 weeks (excluding orientation)
  • Commitment: 7 – 10 hours per week
