This week Beijing based Bitmain, who is one of the most popular manufacturers of ASIC miners, announced via twitter the release of two new crypto mining routers, the Antrouter R3-DASH and Antrouter R3-SIA.
The AntRouter series features internet routers that act as wireless network devices but can also mine cryptocurrencies at the same time using the devices’ idle processing power.
While not as powerful as your typical ASIC miner, as long as the device is set up correctly and powered on, you are still competing for a chance to solve a block and win the block reward.
The R3-DASH router has been designed for mining DASH specifically, but Bitmain claims it can also be used to mine other X11 coins we well.
The R3-SIA has also been designed and tested to mine Siacoin only, but its possible to mine other blake(2b) coins with the same device.
Each miner costs around $60, and can be purchased in the Bitmain Shop.
Bitmain isn’t only a manufacturer of mining equipment, but also the operator of two enormous bitcoin mining pools: BTC.com and Antpool, which together control over 30% of the network.
